Peanut Butter Button Cookies

     Yesterday we did a post on Baby Shower Ideas, going with our theme of "April Showers," and I wanted to add a little tutorial on how to make "Button Cookies," for the "Buttons and Bow Ties" shower idea!
1. You will need a 1" ice cream scooper, a wooden skewer, and a plastic water bottle cap.
2. Scoop the dough and roll into 1" balls.
3. Press the top of the cap in the center of each cookie.
4. Using the skewer, make four "button holes." Now it's time to bake!

Skill Level: Beginner
Prep Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup REESE'S Creamy Peanut Butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
granulated sugar

Directions

Heat oven to 375°F.

  1. Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well

    blended. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar;

    beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir

    together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into

    peanut butter mixture.
  2. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar;

    place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.  Remove from

    cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.

About 4 dozen cookies.

    And since this was inspired by our Baby Shower Idea's post,
I did a quick wrapping job for a boy or girl shower.

Hope you enjoyed it!

LLLove,
Jess
