Living With Models

     One of our brilliant friends, Lauren Reeder, is the co-creator, along with Jeff Newman, of this hilarious new web-series called Living With Models.  It is loosely based on Lauren's life when she first moved to L.A.  Season One is already out and you can watch it, in all of it's glory, here.  Season Two is looking to be better than ever and we cannot wait!! Especially because our very own Jessica Bailey (the Jess, of Jen and Jess) is going to be the villain in the Second Season!!

  

Where did you get the idea for this series?

Lauren (Co-creator): Living with Models started out based on my life when I first moved to Los Angeles.  I was depressed, out of work, insecure, and living with a "model couple" and a Polish model named Michal.  It stuck with me.  I wrote out an episode and set it to Jeff Newman.  He said we should write an entire season together.  And that's how it all began!

What's your favorite part of the work?

L: I guess I would have to say filming.  We had such a blast the first time around.  It was a whirlwind of 12 episodes in 5 days total.  However, I wouldn't have changed a thing.  It's also really great the way the lead actors have gotten so passionate about the project.  Season one wouldn't have been as wonderful if they hadn't really committed.

What is your best "model" beauty tip?

L: Hmm. I am going to let "Sammi" answer this one:
Sammi: "Well Jen and Jess, I would have to say spray tanning.  Because you can get as tan as you want, as many times as you want.  Plus, you won't get wrinkly and old looking. EW."

Where do you see the series going?

L: I think Jeff and I could write these characters forever.  We are currently in pre-production for Season two.  Writing that script was so easy for us.  Who knows, we might go until Season 10!

How did you take it from an idea to reality?

L: I think Jeff and I were really ready to commit to a project.  One of the first things he said to me was that the format (reality show/ documentary style) makes it really easy to film.  We had a lot of leeway when it comes to lighting and setting up shots.  It's a really fun and freeing way to work.

Who is your favorite fashion designer?

L: I'll let all of our main characters take this one.
Sammi: "Christian Audigier"
Cliff: "David Abercrombie and Ezra Fitch"
Lauren: "Goodwill/ My mom's closet.  You never know what you can find."

What are 3 beauty products you can't live without?

Sammi: "Self tanning lotion, red lipstick, and a curling iron."
Cliff: "Self tanning lotion, hair gel, and sun in (hair brightener)."
Lauren: "Vaseline, soap, and deodorant."

Our favorite Red Lipstick is Viva Glam, by Mac.  $14.50

Our favorite Curling Iron (yes, we both use the same kind) is the 1.5 inch curling iron, by Hot Tools.  $42.99

What inspires you?
L: Lately I get inspired by kindness.  It's very rare in Los Angeles, and when I come across it, I want to work with those people forever!
