DIY: Clare Vivier Inspired Clutch

Happy How To's Day!  I absolutely adore Clare Vivier purses, especially their adorable striped clutch. So it inspired me to make a similar clutch of my own!

Materials:
- Acrylic Paint (I found these at Michaels)
- Sponge Brushes (I also bought these at Michaels)
- Leather Clutch
- Painters Tape
- Washi Tape (also found at Michaels)

1. Put down some paper (I used a cork board) to protect your table from paint.

2. Start with the washi tape, and tape from one side of your clutch all the way around from the front side to the back side (sorry, not pictured).

3. Make sure to tuck in the remaining tape.

4. I used the washi tape to measure the space in between the lines, and placed the painters tape all the way around the clutch, from the front to the back.

5. Make sure to tuck in the remaining tape.
 6. When all your tape is placed on your clutch, put a piece of paper in the clutch to catch any excess paint (sorry, not pictured).

7. Pour out your three colors onto a paper plate, and get out your sponge brushes.

8. I used acrylic paint in "camel," "summer linen," and "grey wolf" (all from Michaels).

9. I then painted the three sections of the clutch with four coats of paint. Make sure to let the paint dry a few minutes in between coats.

Let it dry for about an hour, remove the tape, and your clutch is complete!

Jess

  2. Hey!! Where did you find your plain leather clutch??? When you painted the stripes did you just keep pressing the paint with the sponge or did you brush it any? Thanks! Love it!
